Hi, I am the Pine Needle Basket person, love your work and home.I got rated too and I am Rustic Charm too! Most of my baskets were made with Ponderosa Pine Tree needles they are the best. I made some very small baskets and I used Sugar Pine Tree needles. You start at the center of the bottom of the basket. It is a coiling of the pine needles and with a large sewing needle threaded with raffia or swiss straw. I use fresh needles most people who weave Pine Needle baskets use dry needles, soaked to soften them. To much work I use fresh Pine Needles they bend nicely. My baskets are only made with one stalk (3 pine needles sometimes with the attached brown cap to add texture to the ouside of the baskets. Most people use three stalks or more? to make their baskets. I do a tight stitch most do one where you can see the pine needles.
